running php, noob question
Hi there. Im a newbie and cant even get my first page to work lol.
Basically I have installed WAMP server. I type in my browser 'localhost' to test the server. It connects but it doesnt load the page, and is stuck half way throught the load bar. dunno if this means there is a problem.
anyway I have done my first php file, saved as a .php file. it is saved where I save all my other html files, is this correct or should it be saved somewhere more specific?
I try to load it and all I get is the actuall html and php code.
any help would be very appreciated as pulling me hair out.
also do you have to install apache manually or configure manually? do you have to configure anything manual at all? or just some bits? im soo confused.

By default, apache will serve up an index.html file from it's home directory. Most pre-constructed wamp packages will also serve up index.php. If neither of the files are present, it will serve up a list of the files in the directory. If you request a file that doesn't exist, it will return (more or less instantly) a 404 - Not Found message.
If you have been unable to load any pages, you have a problem with the installation.
Uninstall the package you have, go download the three items separately and set it up properly - there is much less chance of having such a problem.
Here is a good guide on how to do a first time installation.
